In the monotony of hectic days filled with countless commitments, modern man no longer has the time to pause. By doing so, it becomes easy to escape daily reality, drowning in the oldest and most common pleasures—Bacchus, tobacco, and Venus.

Just like the Romans of the Empire—who craved baths, wine, and sex—we justify our vices by claiming that pleasures are life itself. And even today, we remain their slaves. It is true that this trident corrupts both our bodies and minds, but it is equally true that it is life itself.
